Okay, okay, I will be patient, but I'm trying to teach you to have some good sense, nu? Okay already, let's get on with it and get connecting here!
Ephesians 6: 13-17 "So take up every piece of war equipment God provides so that when the evil day comes, you will be able to resist and when the battle is won, you will still be standing. Therefore stand! Have the belt of truth buckled around your waist, put on righteousness for a breastplate, and wear on your feet the readiness that comes from the Good News of shalom. Always carry the shield of trust, with which you will be able to extinguish all the flaming arrows of the Evil one. And take the helmet of deliverance along with the sword of the spirit that is the word of God. "
So, you think Shaul has gotten this wonderful revelation of spiritual warfare and he is sharing it with you. After all this IS the New Testament, Shaul is teaching Christianity. Hey, wake up and don't believe all that mishegoss.
I don't want to mess with your head too much but, tell me, who changed his name to Paul? Ya got a scripture for that? Sorry that's for another time. Back to your lesson.....
Shaul, (who some people call Paul), does that make you wanna plotz or what? Sorry, okay, let's get back to it!
Shaul was teaching the Old Testament. Do you understand he was teaching, what he knew from the Tanakh!
I'll give you a couple of examples. If you want more, you have a concordance. You find them.
Isaiah 11:5 "truth the belt around his hips" (IFLS)
When it says "his" it is talking about the Jewish messiah! Nu?
Isaiah 59:17 "He put on righteousness as his breastplate, deliverance as a helmet on his head" (IFLS)
Isaiah 52: 7 "the feet of him who brings good news, proclaiming shalom"
Isn't it time you really spent some time in the "Old Testament" so you could understand that the New Testament is a commentary on the Old Testament and the revealing of the Jewish Messiah?
Or go ahead and listen to all the "popular conjecture" that tickles your ears.
Do yourself a favor, next time you hear some symbolism that is not scripture, be a mench, help the teacher. Just say "I appreciate your creativity, but what does the Bible say?"
And remember if the outside pages of the Old Testament aren't as dirty as the outside pages of the New Testament of your Bible, you are robbing yourself of the roots. Have you ever seen a tree with no roots. Not so healthy huh?
So.....have the belt of truth buckled around your waist, put on righteousness for a breastplate, and wear on your feet the readiness that comes from the Good News of shalom. Always carry the shield of trust, with which you will be able to extinguish all the flaming arrows of the Evil one, take the helmet of deliverance along with the sword of the spirit that is the word of God, have a nice day, and eat your broccoli!
